About Me
I Can Help You Launch a New Product; at Twice the Speed and Half the Cost
Greetings, trailblazer. Welcome to Venture Superfly. My name is John Benzick.
Whether you're an aspiring solo entrepreneur, or a Fortune 500 company, I can help you launch a new product at twice the speed and half the cost. If that sounds unrealistic, contact me and I'll tell you how.
Since 2000, I was an owner in at least three startups. One was an energy supplement company. Another was an action-sports outerwear company. The third was in the floral industry.
I have provided innovation expertise to Procter & Gamble, McDonald's, Best Buy, The Hershey Company, Arm & Hammer, Keurig, Hallmark, LensCrafters, Chase Manhattan Bank, Kimberly Clark, Sargento Cheese, S.C. Johnson, Water Pik, Philip Morris International, Green Mountain Coffee, Outback Steakhouse, Char-Broil, WaterPik, Curad, Woodside Homes and other companies.
Most recently, I've been a Mentor for Techstars startup accelerator and Gener8tor startup accelerator; and a Tech Partner for Matchstick Ventures in Minneapolis. Additionally, I was an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management and a CEO-in-Residence at the university’s Venture Center. I have an MBA from the university.
Additionally, I have judged collegiate business plan competitions and have spoken to student-entrepreneur groups. I was a keynote speaker for AIGA Design Camp.
I began my career in advertising, working as an intern for a killer agency, Fallon McElligott. It was a small role that made a big impact on me. (We can talk more about that later.)
Why did I start Venture Superfly?
Over the years, I've realized that most startup attempts suffer due to a lack of "fit" between the entrepreneur and his or her business idea.
This realization led me to create Venture Superfly, a simple-to-use, 3-step application that helps entrepreneurs align their personal traits with a viable business idea, to help ensure startup success.
Venture Superfly addresses many alignment-related concerns related to startups and entrepreneurs, including:
- how do I know if my startup idea is right for me?
- do I have the skills and knowledge to start a company?
- do I have the right business idea?
- do I have the time to start a business?
- do I have the money to launch a startup?
- will I be supported by others who are important to me?
- do I have the commitment and courage to follow through?
My purpose is to help you discover your entrepreneurial courage.
