Greetings, everyone! Welcome to Venture Superfly! My name is John Benzick.
I'm the guy who started this operation. I couldn't help it! I enjoy coaching others to start new businesses!
Since 2000, I was an owner in two – no, wait, three – startups. One was an energy supplement company. Another was an action-sports outerwear company. The third was related to foodservice.
I grew up in an entrepreneurial household. I have experienced the highs and lows of entrepreneurship. And, man, do I have stories to tell!
Currently, I'm a Mentor for the Techstars Retail Accelerator and a Tech Partner for Matchstick Ventures in Minneapolis. Additionally, I was an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management and a CEO-in-Residence at the university’s Venture Center. I have an MBA from the university.
I have provided innovation expertise to Procter & Gamble, McDonald's, Best Buy, The Hershey Company, Arm & Hammer, LensCrafters, Chase Manhattan Bank, Kimberly Clark, S.C. Johnson, Philip Morris International, Outback Steakhouse and other companies.
I began my career in advertising, working as an intern for a killer agency, Fallon McElligott. It was a small role that made a big impact on me. (We can talk more about that later.)
Additionally, I often judge collegiate business plan competitions and speak to student-entrepreneur groups. I was a keynote speaker for AIGA Design Camp.
Why did I start Venture Superfly?
Over the years, I've realized that most startup attempts suffer due to a lack of "fit" between the entrepreneur and his or her business idea.
This realization led me to create Venture Superfly, a simple-to-use, 3-step application that helps entrepreneurs align their personal traits with a viable business idea, to help ensure startup success.
Venture Superfly addresses many alignment-related concerns related to startups and entrepreneurs, including:
- how do I know if my startup idea is right for me?
- do I have the skills and knowledge to start a company?
- do I have the right business idea?
- do I have the time to start a business?
- do I have the money to launch a startup?
- will I be supported by others who are important to me?
- do I have the commitment and courage to follow through?
My purpose is to help you discover your entrepreneurial courage. The best way is to help you align your life plan with your business plan. That's why I started Venture Superfly.
I wish you the best!
